Women in Leadership is a hot topic of discussion through many forums across the globe yet the needle continues to be skewed towards men occupying leadership roles in the Fortune 500 companies. So when I received a ppt on the subject from Shiva Kumar, my instant reaction was to be able to share it on the site.
I interacted with Shiv Shiva Kumar through my stint as a curator for media, marketing, and advertising events. Despite being a formidable leader as the India Chairman & CEO of Pepsico, I remember him being approachable, affable and responsive. He would always ensure to close the loop even if it were to decline an invite. In fact, most leaders worth their salt always pay attention to such details and my own learning thus far has been to respond to all work-related matters asap and help close the loop. Shivakumar has since moved to the Aditya Birla group as the group president and continues to provide his thought leadership to the industry at large. He shared a presentation about women in leadership and I couldn’t help but requesting if it could be published on Woman Endangered. So here it is linked below.
The presentation covers the statistics of women in a leadership position that seems to have remained stagnant at an abysmally low 5% globally through the last decade. He further identifies the reasons why this may be and addresses 8 important factors that differentiate men and women in leadership roles including Power, Networking, Meetings, Gossip, Aggression, Compensation, Credit, and Ambition.
